About Us

I'm an architect and teacher located in the last green valley of Connecticut. I have been collecting antiques and vintage Items for over 48 years. Our shop features antique toys and decorative items. I am a firm believer that both children and adults should play with beautiful things. Trotwood Toys was named in honor of Charles Dickens, whose imagination made the world a better place.

My five grandchildren are all fast approaching college and they have played with and loved many of the objects I am offering here. I believe strongly in preservation and play. My practice in architecture is known for the tactile quality in objects and materials. I love objects and learn from handling them. We live in screen time, where tactile play has been diminishing for both children and adults. I believe the culture of preservation and play is important to everyday happiness, and are learned behaviors, modeled for our children. A few loved and cared for objects over a lifetime are more meaningful than the chaos of dozens of throw away plastic objects. I have a large collection of objects that relate to skills lost over time, such as traditional cooking objects, pleating irons, sewing items and textiles. As an architect, I have many building and tool related items and toys. I hope to share my objects on Ruby Lane for many more years of pleasure and play to both adults and the children in their lives.

I hope we can help you find your next treasure!
