This is a lovely suite of Victorian jewelry, comprising a pendant set with a foiled pyrope almandine garnet cut en cabochon, detailed by rose cut diamonds, together with matching earrings, all mounted in gold and silver. The diamonds are set in bows on the top of each piece, in a star shape on the front and in a decorative detail and dangle at the bottom. The backs of the earrings and pendant are closed.
The pendant measures 1.85 inches (4.7cms) by ¾ of an inch (1.7cms) and weighs 7 grams. The earrings are 1 ½ inches (3.7cms) and weigh 3.89 grams and 3.55 grams respectively. The earrings have modern posts and butterfly clasps in 9k gold. When this work was done, the tops of the earrings were cleaned by the jeweler. The backs of each piece are set in 15k gold, tested, the fronts in silver, as was usual for the period as it was thought that diamonds looked better set in silver. The tops of the three cabochons show some abrasion due to contact with the fittings as do the bottoms of the earrings to some extent. The pendant comes with a complimentary vintage silver chain.
Postage and insurance is included in the price.
