This beautiful, Arts and Crafts ring bears vague, unidentifiable marks but tests as sterling silver. The lovely gemstone tests as a genuine smoky quartz. It is difficult to date but I suggest any time between the 1930s and 1950’s.
The, rectangular front measures 15mms by 14mms,including the surround. It fits a size US 6¼ and UK L½. It weighs 5.1 grams.
The very fine, emerald cut stone is bezel set in an octagonal surround,. Beneath it on two sides are trios of tiny flowers with a corded edging. The shanks on both sides have a larger flowers with curling tendrils. Beneath this is more decoration of tiny flowers and leaves. The back has line engraving.
You will note that the smoky quartz is open backed which enhances its sparkle . The rather strange mark is on the inside.
In excellent vintage condition this elegant and very wearable ring will arrive in a gift box.
