This delightful cameo ring is fully hallmarked for 9 carat gold. The theme is the classical love story of Cupid and Psyche.

The bezel set cameo has a corded surround. The oval top measures 20mms by 16mms. The ring fits a US size 8 and a UK size P½. It weighs 4 grams.

The shanks are elegantly bifurcated and then joined with a pair of fine lines. The back is plain gold.

The interior bears the maker’s mark ‘F&R.B’ and then the full British hallmarks which I have made a big effort to read. These are ‘9 375’ for 9 carat gold, the anchor for the Birmingham assay office and a date letter which is too worn and dark to decipher. My best estimate is that the ring is around 30 years old.

In fine, vintage condition, this most lovely and quite unusual ring, a symbol of a love affair, will arrive in a gift box.
