CHARLES SCHNEIDER - le verre Français
A wonderful 1920-1930 French art deco flush mount in wrought with a nice Schneider (Le Verre Français) shade in tango and burgundy red colored cameo glass. This model is called Les Prunes (the Plums). Schneider made the first designs around 1919-1922 and in the years to follow made vases table lamps and chandeliers with this pattern. I show a picture of a prunes table lamp in the book on Schneider by Joulin and Maier.
The beautiful small bowl is held by a mount in wrought iron of excellent quality. The flush mount has a diameter of 33 cm (13 inches) and the Prunes bowl is 20,2 cm (8") wide. The total height of the fixture is 18,3 cm (7,2"). This ceiling light is in excellent condition. The bowl is signed with the Berlingot sign. A berlingot is one of the oldest traditional hard sweets from France in the colors of the French flag that inspired Schneider for this signature in the shape of a small colored banner.
The iron mount has a nice grey black patina. For the States Canada or Japan it is rewired with an American standard base socket. For other countries I will place a E27 one.
