Each year in Tampa, Florida we celebrate Mardi Gras style the invasion of legendary pirates into Tampa Bay and the city with a parade and many festivities. It is one big party for adults and children alike. This multi-colored necklace was inspired by this colorful event. I have used a variety of shapes and sizes of Impression Jasper beads. These composite and colorful beads are alternated with brightly colored fire-polished Czech glass rondelles beads and gold-colored 'O' shaped beads as spacers. It's definitely a playful and cheerful necklace! Enjoy the party!
Impression Jasper is a popular composite stone. Composite stones are considered recycled/upcycled gemstones made from the discarded remnants resulting from the cutting process of other gemstones. These stone remnants are fused together under heat and pressure using a binding agent such as resin to create new ‘stone’ types that can be turned to beads. Metal inclusions can also added to the composite mix. These composite stones are often dyed. The possibilities of such composite stone combinations are limitless and add value to components that were discarded in the past.
