A fine quality antique 19th century Neo-Gothic alter triptych with religious scene of Jesus Christ. The altar piece is constructed of gilt bronze framework. The frame takes on an architectural form, the finial stylized as a cathedral roof with five crosses. The double doors opening to reveal a hand painted porcelain plaque after Guido Reni's Head of Christ Crowned with Thorns. Impressed en verso with marks 5 M. The frame with easel backing. In overall good antique condition, general wear and discoloration to the gilt bronze commensurate with age and use. There are a couple of scratches to the porcelain plaque. On the bottom edges of the doors are slight bends, however this does not hinder the closing of the double doors. The triptych measures 11 3/4" height x 7 3/4" length x 1 1/8" deep. The doors open to a length of 8 7/8" across. The porcelain plaque measures 5 7/8" x 4 1/8" oval.
