SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY SALE! To celebrate our twenty year anniversary on Ruby Lane, we are extending our Special Sale through the end of this year. We are offering these items at less than market, most at or under what we paid. NO OFFERS PLEASE.
We offer this very large sensitive impressionist painting of a Jewish family's Chanukah (Hanukkah) celebration, with their menorah prominently displayed. It has poignancy and hope. The artist, Joshua Kaganove (Kiev, Russia - now Kiev, Ukraine -1892 - 1968) somehow knew and conveyed the very real feelings of joy and sadness.
He emigrated to the United States sometime in the first quarter of the 20th Century. He studied at Cooper Union School in New York, and the Art Institute of Chicago. He exhibited at the Art Institute as well as the Wichita, Kansas Art Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Jewish Art Club. He taught at the Art Institute of Chicago in the 1940s.
