Similar looking to Goebel's famous Friar Tuck's, this is an amazing variant. Blue eyes instead of brown is one of the more distinguishing differences. Another, he is wearing a skull cap while Friar Tuck's are bare headed.
Clearly though, the same molds were used for this and the Friar Tucks as the body mold is the same pose and actually the head is only slightly different. Also, we have had the large Friar Tuck stein before and it just has a pewter lid - not a figural full face/head lid as this one is.
This one is fabulous! It has the 'full bee' Goebel hallmark on the base alongside W. Germany dating it to 1964-72.
It is in fabulous condition. Probably never used and only displayed. The stein measures about 6 1/2" high x 6 1/2" across including the handle. The base measures 4 1/4" in diameter. On one side (in the mold) is '0,5?' which we think is 1/2 liter for volume content.
