This antique Victorian picture is a print that has varnish brush strokes over it to make it appear to be a real oil painting. This type of painting is sometimes referred to as an oilette, meaning it is not a real oil painting , but rather is made to resemble an oil painting. This charming example is typically Victorian with a sentimental image of a dog watching chickens feed. Surrounding the central image are many details showing the interior of a barn. The image is in its original frame with square nails holding the panel into the frame. In the bottom right corner are the words 'Leup de Cauwer', possibly the name of the artist. The overall dimensions of the frame are 12 x 15 1/4 inches.
