For sale is a very nice antique late 18th to early 19th century folk art silhouette that I acquired from a sale in Ohio. It depicts a rather distinguished looking man in traditional attire and hairstyle of the period. I believe that it is hollow cut and painted, and is housed in what I believe may be the original frame with an oval opening, and metal loop hanger on the top. The piece measures about 5 1/2" x 4 5/8" with sight measurements of 3 3/4" x 2 3/4". The image itself is about 2" x 1 1/2". The silhouette is in nice antique condition, with no significant issues, although when the piece was removed from the frame and examined, some spray paint repair was seen. The frame is in nice antique condition, with signs of age, but no significant issues, and of course, the paper backing is a new replacement. Please look carefully at the pictures as they are an important part of the description, and be sure to ask any questions. What a wonderful addition to your antique silhouette collection!
