SCHAFER & VATER: Schafer & Vater was in business from 1890-1962. They produced a wide range of hard paste porcelain which included luxury items, figurines, and doll heads. They also produced soft paste porcelain in bisque, and jasperware and majolica items as well. Some of their most popular lines were comical and figural, and they were an authorized manufacturer of Rose O’Neill Kewpies. The company closed in 1962 and it is reported that in 1972 the German government took control of the vacant factory and destroyed records and molds.
