Carte de Visite black and white photograph of a cute seated baby with a clown and drum toy on his lap C. 1860. The toy looks to be a tin German mechanical toy.
It is embossed :"ATELIER WERTHEIM BERLIN ORANIENSTR" on the lower left corner in gold. The photograph is printed in black and white and is mounted on a thin piece of cardboard.
The carte de visite, abbreviated CdV, was a type of small photograph which was patented in Paris by photographer André Adolphe Eugène Disdéri in 1854, although first used by Louis Dodero. Each photograph was the size of a visiting card, and such photograph cards were commonly traded among friends and visitors in the 1860s.

Width - 2 3/8".
Condition: There is some light wear to the edges and there are some slight marks in the grey area above the baby's head. There is a number "41891" written in pencil on the back. There is some light staining on the back upper right.
